January 28, 2008, and January 15, 2009, marked the beginning and end of the 100th anniversary of the deaths of Saint Joseph Freinademetz and Saint Arnold Janssen, respectively. Those of us who make up the Arnold Janssen Family (Missionary Sisters Servants of the Holy Spirit, Missionary Sisters Servants of the Holy Spirit of Perpetual Adoration, and Missionaries of the Divine Word), celebrated the year between January 2008 and January 2009 in honor of both Saints.

During this period, there was much reflection on their lives and papers were presented in the various Provinces and / or through various media. At their joint meeting in January 2009, the General Councils of the Missionary Sisters and of the Missionaries of the Divine Word, decided to gather the themes and publish them in book form for posterity.

This publication is a compilation of some of the many reflections, homilies, lectures, and other exhibits specifically written during that year to deepen our understanding and appreciation of these two saints and for our own spiritual growth.

It is not a compendium of historical research, but a publication that can be used by the members of the Congregations to encourage them to continue reflecting on the life and spirituality of these two saints.
