Ash Wednesday Prayer

Lord of dust and breath,
today we stand between earth and eternity.
Ashes rest upon our foreheads,
reminding us that we are fragile
and yet infinitely loved.

We come not as finished beings,
but as unfinished stories.
Teach us that repentance is not humiliation,
but awakening
a return to what is true within us.

Strip away what is false,
what is hurried,
what is restless in us.
Let the ashes silence our pride
and open a deeper listening.

May this season be a journey inward
where we rediscover the quiet flame
that no wind can extinguish.
Turn our hearts toward what endures,
and let our small lives
lean into Your eternal mercy.

Amen.
