Prayer of the Catechist

Lord, when you command us to sow, our hands overflow with wealth:
your Word fills us with joy when we cast it on the open ground.

Lord, when you command us to sow, we feel poverty in our soul:
we sow the seed you gave us and we wait uncertainly for the harvest.

And it seems to us that this sowing in insecure waiting is a waste of time.
And it seems to us that there is very little grain for the immensity of our lands.
And the disproportion of your mandate compared to our forces crushes us.

But faith makes us understand that you are by our side in the task.
And we advance sowing at night and through the morning fog.
Poor prophets, but confident that You ‘use us as humble tools.

Glory to You, good Father, who gave us your Word, true seed.
And by the grace of your Holy Spirit, you sow it with us in the Church.
