Europe has experienced tremendous change in recent years; its society has become more multicultural, more diverse, more international, but also more fragmented than ever before. The situation of the Church has changed as well. Parallel to this general change, the status of the Society of the Divine Word in Europe has also changed.
The publication above presents ideas and reflections of a group of SVDs that have been involved in “Project Europe”. It begins with a historical presentation detailing the development of the SVD in Europe. The second chapter deals with Europe in the process of change. Then some missionary challenges are presented, and the last chapter offers some attempts at a missionary response in Europe.
This booklet is intended not just for the confreres in Europe but also for those abroad, who should also clearly understand what the European SVDs mean by Mission in Europe.
