This book is about the missionary life of Saint Joseph Freinademetz. It tells the story of his life from the first day of his arrival in Hong Kong to his death. His activities had been the expression of his deep, enduring love for the Chinese people—death ended those activities. And yet his voice still speaks . . . he was never so active as now. In this book, one can find many details of a life full of challenges and also joys.
Father Joseph Freinademetz, S.V.D., one of the first two Divine Word Missionaries to go to foreign lands, visualized that mission as a bringing of bread to the starving. His entire missionary life was spent among the Chinese.
He loved them, and they loved him, and he lies buried among them, in Taikia.
