Ref.: Launching the Vivat Deus website

Dear Sisters, Brothers and Mission Partners,

On December 8th the Church celebrates the Immaculate Conception of Mary. Just as the Holy Triune God lived in her heart, so we strive to follow her example as we make the Holy Triune God the center of our lives and “we entrust our life and service to her protection” (SVD Constitutions 123). It was St. Arnold Janssen’s desire to that December 8th would be the foundation date for both the Missionary Sisters Servants of the Holy Spirit (1889) and the Sister-Servants of the Holy Spirit of Perpetual Adoration (1896). It is therefore with great joy that we continue the mission entrusted to us by launching the VIVAT DEUS website (www.vivatdeus.org).

This new website, in English and Spanish, responds to the common desire to share the wisdom of Arnold Janssen and the Founding Generation. The VIVAT DEUS website will serve as a platform and a channel to share our Trinitarian spirituality, charism, history, ongoing spiritual formation and new developments in our three Congregations. It also provides a means for our members and mission partners to present materials and reflections about how this spirituality and charism is experienced and promoted in their current realities.

The history and spirituality of our Founding Generation is our common heritage. It not only gives meaning to our lives, but also impels us to live our religious missionary vocation with vigor and commitment. Naturally, we desire that others can benefit from this gift, especially our mission partners. Hopefully, this will bring about transformation and renewal.

We invite you to visit the website www.vivatdeus.org and explore the resources provided. We encourage you to inform others who might be interested or who could benefit from this website. You have the option to fill out a subscription form so that, as the website develops, you will receive periodic updates and additional materials. Because this is an interactive site, you are welcome to contribute your own articles and materials.

Special thanks to Sr. Ana Elídia Caffer Neves SSpS, Fr. Arlindo Dias SVD, Fr. Piotr Gracz SVD and many others who have generously contributed to the cataloguing, translating and proofreading of the material.

By promoting this website as one family, we give new life to the legacy of our Founding Generation. May this website be a blessing and inspiration for many.

United in the Blessed Trinity,

Sr. Maria Theresia Hörnemann, SSpS Congregational Leader

Mo. Maria Magdalena Kruse, SSpSAP General Superior

Paulus Budi Kleden, SVD Superior General
